Zero Hour Never had a Chance

Ironically, television audiences were not as enthusiastic about the new ABC drama, “Zero Hour” that cast Anthony Edwards in the leading role of a magazine publisher targeted at skeptics; leading to the show being cancelled after only three weeks of airing.

“Zero Hour” ran its course after airing for the last three Thursdays at 20:00 on ABC. A story found on a ‘Hollywood Reporter Web site’ reports that ABC stopped the broadcast.

In spite of ABC considerable attempts at promoting “Zero Hour”, viewers declined from a weak 6.38m viewers on the day of it premier, 14 February, to 5.39m the next week and in its final hours (the third airing) it fell…to 5.05m viewers.

It is then no surprise that ABC decided to pull the plug on the broadcast. Instead, repeats of “Shank Tank” will take the place of the “Zero Hour” time slot immediately.

The ABC network endorsed “Zero Hour” and backed the former NBC “ER” star by arranging high profile interviews for Anthony Edwards on the network’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and “Good Morning America” prior to its premiere.

Nevertheless, the publicity wasn’t sufficient to sustain interest in the television series character played by Anthony Edwards; a publisher committed to farfetched conspiracies that quickly finds himself in the middle of his own conspiracy when his wife disappears.
